About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Inpatient Rounding is responsible for providing daily inpatient rounding services for Sano Orthopedics patients admitted to four local hospitals. This role is focused exclusively on hospital rounding and care coordination and does not include outpatient clinic responsibilities or procedural/clinical duties. The APP serves as a liaison between hospitalized patients, physicians, nursing staff, and the Sano Orthopedics care team to ensure continuity of care, clear communication, and optimal patient experience.

Requirements

  • Strong communicationand interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coordinate care across multiple hospital systems.
  • Knowledge of inpatient workflows and hospital operations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • EMR experience (eClinicalWorks preferred).
  • Professional demeanor with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • General computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • State Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (licensed or eligible for licensure in Missouri and Kansas).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior inpatient or hospital rounding experience preferred.
  • Orthopedic experiencepreferredbut notrequired.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inpatient rounding on Sano Orthopedics patients at four designated local hospitals.
  • Check in with admitted patients to assess status, address questions or concerns, and provide education related to their plan of care.
  • Coordinate care and communicate patient updates with supervising physicians, surgeons, and the Sano Orthopedics team.
  • Serve as a point of contact between hospital staff (nursing, case management, therapy, etc.) and Sano Orthopedics providers.
  • Review hospital charts, progress notes, labs, and imaging to stay informed on patient status.
  • Document inpatient rounding encounters and communications in the electronic medical record.
  • Assistwith discharge planning coordination, including follow-up appointments and transition back to outpatient care.
  • Identifyand escalate clinical concerns to theappropriate supervisingphysician; no independent diagnosis, procedures, or prescribingrequired.
  • Ensuretimelyand professional communication with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Attend required staff meetings andmaintaincommunication with APP leadership.
  • Maintain active MO and KS licensure and required certifications.
  • Adhere to all Sano policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Sano Orthopedics.
  • Other duties as assigned related to inpatient rounding and care coordination.
