The position involves performing initial evaluations and admissions for adult patients presenting to the hospital. The role requires close collaboration with hospitalist physicians, emergency department providers, and inpatient staff. The responsibilities include conducting initial and ongoing assessments of patients' medical, physical, and psychological status, which encompasses taking histories and performing physical examinations. Additionally, the position entails developing individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs and recording notes in the medical record. The individual will implement physician-directed treatment plans, write orders for medications, treatments, tests, and provide patient care. The role also includes dispensing medication as dictated by the PA's prescriptive privilege, State Law, or as a verbal order under the direction of the supervising physician. The position allows for the prescription of medications appropriate for treatment in a general/vascular surgical practice, with certain exceptions. Furthermore, the individual will provide education and training to clinical staff in the offices and operate within the scope of practice outlined by the State of South Carolina.
