The Section of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to support its rapidly expanding department. Boston Medical Center is a 514-bed academic medical center, the primary teaching hospital for Boston University, and a nationally recognized safety-net hospital serving a diverse patient population from across New England. The Section is an integral part of the BU-BMC Cancer Center, which provides the full spectrum of cancer care-including hematologic malignancies, solid tumors, stem cell transplantation, gene therapy and CAR-T therapy and a robust clinical trials program. Our APPs are vital members of the team, working in a collaborative model with physicians and other specialists to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to the city of Boston's diverse communities. In this role, the APP is responsible for managing acute and chronic issues associated with hematology and oncology diagnoses and treatments, developing and implementing care plans, and providing patient and family education, anticipatory guidance, and psychosocial support. The APP has prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including Schedule II-V controlled substances. The position requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to function as part of an interdisciplinary team. APPs at BMC participate in tumor boards, teaching conferences, and quality initiatives, and are encouraged to pursue ongoing educational opportunities. In addition, all APPs receive a faculty appointment at the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, commensurate with experience.
