The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in the Trauma Clinic is responsible for all aspects of caring for trauma patients throughout their hospital stay and clinic follow-up in a collaborative team-based approach. The position involves working with both adult and pediatric patients, obtaining medical histories, performing physical evaluations, ordering and interpreting lab and x-ray studies, and counseling patients on pre and post-operative care. The APP will also participate in quality improvement projects and community outreach education, complying with all Oregon State Trauma program requirements. The work schedule is full-time, typically 4 days a week, Monday to Friday, 8-5, with no current call expectation.

  • Obtain pertinent medical history and appropriate physical evaluations.
  • Order and interpret pertinent lab and/or x-ray studies.
  • Perform and document preoperative and preadmission histories and physicals.
  • Counsel patients on pre and post-operative care and traumatic disorders.
  • Facilitate referrals to community health facilities and resources.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and initiate evaluative and treatment procedures.
  • Document all patient care within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Participate in team meetings and assist in policy and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Maintain active privileges at a St. Charles Health System hospital.
  • Deliver customer service and/or patient care in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner course of study.
  • Unrestricted Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner licensure in the state of Oregon.
  • NCCPA certification for Physician Assistants or AANC, NCC, AANP, AMCB certification for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Unrestricted Federal DEA number registered in Oregon.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Experience using EMR software.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Prior experience with trauma surgery and surgical clinic operations.
  • Epic EMR software experience.
