About The Position

GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Advanced Practice Provider Residency Program is a year-long integrated learning experience for new graduate nurse practitioners and physician assistants during their transition from academia to clinical application. Program participants will have dedicated didactic and procedural education that coincides with their specialty department. Program participants will perform essential skills within their scope of practice to care for patients under preceptor Physician or Advanced Practice Provider supervision to allow the participant an opportunity to gain experiences and integrate their learning. Requirements

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited program and certified by National Commission On Certification Of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) OR graduate from a PA State Board of Nursing Approved Master’s or Post-Master’s program
  • PA Physician Assistant License and on-going successful re-certification as PA-C (NCCPA) OR Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). and on-going successful re-certification
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner License (AANP or ANCC)
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Nice To Haves

  • 1 years with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • 1 years with electronic medical records
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides appropriate patient care to include recording patient medical history and physical assessment, developing therapeutic care plan, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, discharge planning and providing accurate medical record documentation for patient assignment. (40%)
  • Participates, develops, and implements performance and/or quality improvement initiatives. Develops educational presentations for other members of the healthcare team. (10%)
  • Communicates and coordinates patient care with patient, family, community health services and interdisciplinary team. Involves attending physician regarding plan of care and involves physician in clinical decision-making of any issues that are outside the APP knowledge-base or scope of practice. (15%)
  • Competently perform advanced diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions appropriate to their scope of practice as outlined on their network practice agreement (20%)
  • Participates in educational seminars, grand rounds, and other didactic learning necessary to perform in their specialty role. (15%)
  • Other duties as assigned or required.
