The fellowship includes weekly 4-6-hour residency conferences, as well as sessions specifically tailored for fellows. Fellows will complete certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ATLS. Fellows gain experience across all levels of emergency medicine (EM) acuity, including pediatric EM and the EM observational care unit. Fellows rotate through various specialties, such as Neurology, Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Critical Care, and Radiology, to broaden their clinical knowledge and foster interprofessional communication. Unique to Penn State Health, the fellowship offers hands-on experience in Event Medicine, providing medical support at Penn State football games and other events. Additionally, fellows participate in an introduction to Wilderness Medicine, featuring an overnight backpacking trip along the Appalachian Trail. This distinguished fellowship fosters a seamless transition to practice by offering a multidisciplinary approach, collaboration with seasoned healthcare providers, and exposure to a diverse patient population.
