About The Position

Advanced Practice Provider Cardiology Outpatient Practice Albany, NY The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a credentialed position required to function in and practice in an expanded specialty. The PA/NP has the responsibility and accountability for the assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions and the daily implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. Provides comprehensive healthcare sensitive to the needs of the population, including assessment, diagnosing, prescribing, and referrals where appropriate. Enabling patient choice in provision of care, complimenting roles of MD and multidisciplinary team. The PA/NP augments a physician's ability to provide medical services to patients; collect and document data, conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations and provide direct patient care services.

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of anatomy, principles or theories of neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology, human growth and development, human developmental disease, and medical terminology as appropriate in an outpatient clinic setting and as appropriate for level of medical licensure.
• Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, collect clinical data including vital signs.
• Prepare patients for tests, therapy, or treatments; order and interpret diagnostic test results, and diagnose medical condition of patients
• Follow up with patients based on plan of care reviewed with them
• Respond to patient inquiries related to their ongoing care with the Division of Cardiology
• Completes accurate patient coding for effective billing, maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records
• Serves as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to ensure the smooth flow of patient processing, treatment and discharge including patient triaging.
