About The Position

Harborview Medical Center's Sexual Health Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant. The Sexual Health Clinic is a Public Health-Seattle & King County service that provides confidential STD and HIV evaluation, screening, testing and treatment on a sliding-fee scale. The clinic can be accessed on a walk-in basis. As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. It is dedicated to providing specialized care for a broad spectrum of patients from throughout the Pacific Northwest, including the most vulnerable residents of King County. It provides exemplary patient care in leading-edge centers of emphasis, including emergency medicine, trauma and burn care, neurosciences, ophthalmology, vascular surgery, HIV/AIDS, rehabilitation, mental health and substance abuse care. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
  • License to practice as an RN in Washington State
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • BLS certification
  • Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington
  • National certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA)
  • Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Taking and recording detailed sexual histories
  • Performing physical examinations
  • Ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.
  • Performing on site laboratory tests
  • Providing patient counseling, risk reduction education, and referral for partner management services
  • Dispensing and or/prescribing medications
  • Participating in clinical research studies
  • Training medical and public health professionals in the provision of Sexual Health clinical services
  • Assuring confidentiality of services per HIPAA and state laws
