About The Position

Harborview Medical Center's Sleep Medicine Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for an ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant. WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours weekly) Days, Mon-Fri No call or weekend coverage is currently required DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Sleep Medicine Clinic provides multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and follow-up consultation services for patients with suspected or diagnosed sleep-related problems. Our medical, surgical, and therapeutic interventions cover the full spectrum of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, insomnia, restless leg syndrome/periodic limb movement disorder and circadian rhythm abnormalities. Our primary clinic is located at Harborview and includes our main sleep testing facility and sleep medicine clinic. Our team also sees patients at the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Clinic at Harborview and at UW Medicine Primary Care in Shoreline, Federal Way, Issaquah, Kent/Des Moines and Woodinville, as well as at the General Pulmonary Clinic and Regional Heart Center, both at UW Medical Center – Montlake. . Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
  • License to practice as an RN in Washington State
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • BLS certification
  • Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington
  • National certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA)
  • Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage both new and established adult patients referred to for evaluation of sleep disorders
  • Responsibilities include performing clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting sleep studies, initiating and managing PAP therapy, prescribing pharmacologic treatments as appropriate, and counseling patients on behavioral strategies to improve sleep quality
  • Plays a central role in ongoing follow-up for sleep therapy compliance, patient education, and coordination with DME vendors
  • Includes outpatient visits and may involve coordination with inpatient services for complex sleep management or transition of care
