About The Position

The AUCC Student Health and Wellness Clinic is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) who will be responsible for providing patient care to a diverse student population across the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) institutions. This full-time role emphasizes health promotion, risk reduction, early detection of illness, and patient education, ensuring students are empowered to lead healthy, successful academic lives. The APP works collaboratively in accordance with state and federal laws and under the direction and supervision of department physician(s) and in accordance with established policies, procedures, organizational objectives, to provide patient care which includes but is not limited to medical examination, procedures, diagnosis, treatment, consultation, and referral This is a .5 FTE, part-time position Work Environment: Fast-paced, team-oriented outpatient clinic serving AUCC students. Standard full-time schedule (Monday-Friday) with occasional participation in campus wellness events or after-hours programming. Extended hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-8PM and Saturdays, 10AM-2PM. About the AUCC Student Health and Wellness Clinic: The AUCC-SHWC is one of the Morehouse School of Medicine's Healthcare Clinics, dedicated to supporting students' physical and mental health and wellness. The AUCC Student Health and Wellness Center serves students from Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Morehouse School of Medicine. The clinic's mission is to enhance students' academic and personal success through high-quality, holistic, and accessible health services.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.
  • Current licensure as an NP or PA in the state of Georgia.
  • National certification (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA).
  • Active DEA license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in primary care, public health, or college health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health equity and preventive care.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with college-age populations and/or in a campus-based clinic.
  • Knowledge of culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care models.
  • Familiarity with health promotion strategies in underserved or underrepresented communities.
  • ACLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems.
  • Provides preventive health services including routine physical exams, screenings (e.g., STI, blood pressure, cholesterol), immunizations, and wellness checks.
  • Offers counseling and education on topics such as nutrition, exercise, reproductive health, sexual health, sleep hygiene, substance use, and mental health.
  • Develops and implements individualized care plans for students based on risk assessments and preventive health guidelines.
  • Participates in and lead campus outreach programs and health education workshops.
  • Maintains up-to-date, accurate, and confidential documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Supports campus-wide prevention strategies (e.g., vaccination campaigns).
  • Ensures care complies with evidence-based guidelines, state/federal regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Provides culturally sensitive and competent care to a diverse student population.
  • Orders, performs, and interprets routine laboratory tests.
  • Orders X-rays, EKGs, and other related studies as required.
  • According to standard protocols, provides immediate evaluation, treatment, and procedures essential to providing appropriate response to emergency medical problems, including consultation with physician, as appropriate.
  • Works with the clinic's medical director, associate director, or other assigned physicians to develop policies and protocols for PA/NP practice.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
  • In collaboration with physicians, arranges for consultations with or referrals to other medical professionals or community services.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments in college health and the populations served at the clinic.
  • Actively participates in clinical and organizational health services committees.
