The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Supervisor is a dual-role position combining advanced clinical practice and administrative leadership. This role is designed for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) with extensive clinical expertise and proven leadership capabilities. The APP Supervisor will provide comprehensive care within the Cardiac Surgery service in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, including ICU and perioperative management, while also supervising and supporting a team of APPs across the department. This role is essential to ensuring the highest standards of patient care, APP performance, and strategic alignment with institutional goals. The APP Supervisor reports to the Department Chair or designated clinical leader and is allocated tiered administrative time based on the number of supervised APPs. Position Responsibilities: APP Supervisor for the Section of Cardiac Surgery, you will have 0.2 FTE protected time for this role to complete administrative tasks Assist the Chair of the department of surgery and the chief of cardiothoracic surgery with the supervision of cardiac APPs Participate in the hiring process of new APPs Manage call schedule for cardiac APPS Supervise onboarding of new APPs and make recommendations to independence Consults from medical-surgical floor, step down, ICU, emergency department Encourage participation in the three pillars of research, education and quality As an APP in the department of Surgery and Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery you are expected to participate but not limited to the following activities: First assist in OR Perform intraoperative vein or arterial harvesting Perform ICU and floor-based procedures See consultants from medical-surgical floor, step down, ICU, emergency department Encourage participation in the three pillars of research, education and quality Serve as a good citizen in the department of Surgery
