This PRN Advanced Practice Provider (APP) role supports the Ronald McDonald Pediatric Care Mobile teams across North and South Chicagoland. These fully-equipped mobile clinics serve children who struggle to access standard pediatric care. The APP provides coverage during provider PTO, sick time, and supports at school or community events as needed. Typical hours for school-based pediatric visits are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., providing routine check-ups, immunizations, sick-child visits, screenings, and health education, with a minimum of 2 shifts per month required. The role also involves participating in weekend and seasonal community health events supporting underserved neighborhoods. The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Program has, for over a decade, brought free, high-quality pediatric care directly to communities lacking access, with two mobile units based at Oak Lawn and Park Ridge, serving families across Cook, Lake, McHenry, and Kane counties. Comprehensive services include physical and sports exams, routine immunizations, acute sick visits, health education, chronic condition support (e.g., asthma, oral hygiene), vision and hearing screenings, nutrition counseling, mental health assessments, and referrals and assistance securing a permanent medical home. Collaborative visits with schools, libraries, and community centers ensure outreach is both accessible and culturally sensitive, and backpack distribution programs supplement healthcare with food and school supplies for children facing hardship.
