About The Position

This is a 12-month post-graduate accredited training program beginning October 19th, 2026 for NPs and PAs who wish to transition into oncology-based care. The fellowship provides support and training during the transition to practice period, allowing fellows to build confidence and knowledge in clinical sub-specialties. The program is open to newly graduated APPs, as well as those with prior experience as an APP. The fellowship is especially well-suited for those looking to gain specialty exposure to oncology and those eager for an immersive learning experience. Sub-specialty Tracks and number of opportunities: • Critical Care Medicine – 1 • Geriatric Oncology – 1 • Hematology/Oncology – 2 • Neurology/Neurosurgery – 1 • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology – 2 • Perioperative and Specialized Care – 1 • Psycho-Oncology – 1 • Solid Tumor Medical Oncology – 2 • Surgical Oncology – 2 Hospice and Palliative Care – 2 positions filled

Requirements

  • Have current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) licenses or a Physician Assistant (PA) license
  • Be graduates of an accredited Nurse Practitioner NP, and/or Physician Assistant PA program in the United States
  • Have appropriate NP/PA board certification (Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant)
  • BLS, ACLS, DEA and any additional certifications/credentialing requirements Please check the requirements on our website for the specific sub-specialty area you are interested in.
  • Please note, in order to be considered for this year’s Program, you must apply for state NP/PA licensure by May 19th, 2026, and you must pass your board exam by June 14th, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering a comprehensive patient history
  • Performing a comprehensive physical examination
  • Ordering and analyzing laboratory and diagnostic studies
  • Formulating differential diagnoses, offering rationale for clinical decisions, and implementing treatment plans
  • Evaluating patient response to treatment
  • Coordination of patient care
  • Active participation within the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Accurate and complete documentation of patient encounters
  • Performing procedures
  • Participation in didactic learning experiences, including projects and presentations
