About the Role The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who, through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician, is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that include ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self – evaluation, leadership, and research. The APN is self- directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in Employee Health Services, under the direction of the Director Employee Health, is responsible for assisting in coordinating the overall activities of the Employee Health Services of University Hospital. The APN is accountable for assuring quality medical care to UH employees by performing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribing pharmacologic and non – pharmacologic treatments, as well as addressing the behavioral aspects of illness and disease. The Employee Health Services APN ensures that personnel working at University Hospital are in compliance with Federal, State, Local, TJC, New Jersey State Department of Health and all other regulatory agency requirements, standards, and regulations.
