Our mission is to promote growth, independence, and a high quality of life for the individuals we serve Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APNP) to lead our Health Services department. This role provides clinical oversight, guidance, and supervision to nursing staff while ensuring comprehensive, coordinated, and high-quality healthcare services for students. The APNP collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, manages medication administration, and supports both routine and emergency medical needs. This is an ideal opportunity for a healthcare professional with leadership experience who is passionate about coaching staff, improving clinical operations, and fostering wellness in a structured, supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Current state licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (APNP)
  • Board certification in FNP, PNP, AGNP, or related specialty
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to maintain a calm and effective demeanor in emergencies and stressful situations
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to coach, motivate, and support staff in achieving program goals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver high-quality care
  • Ability to effectively implement approved physical intervention techniques
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Willingness to work with residents in a variety of settings, including community outings

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental health diagnoses preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to Registered Nurses and Health Services Assistants.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor health-related policies and procedures.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including medical histories and physical exams.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions within scope of practice.
  • Prescribe/order medications, therapies, treatments, and diagnostic tests as appropriate.
  • Provide preventive care, health education, and wellness counseling.
  • Coordinate external medical care and maintain relationships with healthcare providers.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide consultation and emergency support.
  • Oversee medication administration, storage, and documentation according to regulations.
  • Conduct regular medication audits and ensure staff competency.
  • Collaborate with pharmacies and providers to manage prescriptions and resolve issues.
  • Participate in new student admissions, screening referrals, and transfer of care.
  • Confirm medications, obtain prescriptions, and ensure timely pharmacy processing.
  • Serve on interdisciplinary teams to provide a holistic approach to student wellness.
  • Maintain professional communication with staff, families, and external partners.
  • Model positive professional behavior and effective decision-making.
