About The Position

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides comprehensive primary and preventive healthcare services to pediatric patients from birth through adolescence. This role emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic pediatric conditions in accordance with evidence-based practice, clinical guidelines, and FQHC standards. The PNP works collaboratively with pediatricians, nursing staff, behavioral health providers, care coordinators, and support staff to deliver integrated, high-quality pediatric care.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current and active New Jersey APRN license.
  • National certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC or PNP-PC).
  • Active DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Active CDS registration (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Current BLS certification (PALS preferred).
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of pediatric clinical experience preferred (new graduates with strong pediatric rotations may be considered).
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills in pediatric care.
  • Commitment to providing culturally competent, patient-centered care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records (EPIC experience preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an FQHC or underserved/community health setting strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct clinical care to pediatric patients, including health assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care.
  • Perform well-child visits, sick visits, physical examinations, immunizations, and developmental screenings.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions in accordance with established clinical protocols.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions consistent with scope of practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide patient and family education on health maintenance, disease prevention, nutrition, growth and development, and safety.
  • Coordinate care with internal and external providers, including referrals to specialty care as needed.
  • Accurately and timely document clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EPIC).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and performance measures (e.g., UDS, HEDIS, HRSA requirements).
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and organizational policies, including HRSA, FTCA, and Joint Commission standards (if applicable).
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and continuing education activities.
