About The Position

The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a skilled health provider who through a written collaborative practice agreement with a physician is credentialed through the Medical Staff Office. As a member of the Medical Staff the APN demonstrates standards of professional practice that includes ethical decision making, job activities related to quality assessment/improvement, self-evaluation, leadership and research. The APN is self-directed and purposeful in seeking necessary knowledge and skills to develop and maintain competency. The APN in the Hematology/Oncology Practice utilizes critical judgment in the performance of comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis and the prescribing of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of patients diagnosed with a variety of hematologic or oncologic diseases. The APN practice will promote wellness through conducting research, providing education and works autonomously as well as in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants.

Requirements

  • Current Registered/Professional Nurse license and registration in the State of New Jersey.
  • Completion of an educational program designed to prepare graduates to practice as an NP/APN with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Eligibility for certification by a national certifying body.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills.
  • Creative problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in hematology/oncology.
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/ONCC Provider Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate.
  • Radiation Therapy Certificate.
  • National Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.
  • Participation in pertinent professional and/or specialty organizations.
