About The Position

An advanced practice provider, physician's assistant or advanced practice nurse practitioner, who has acquired appropriate training to provide mental health services to include evaluating, diagnosing, prescribing medications, and managing treatment for clients. Advanced practice nurses specializing in psychiatry will join Burrell Behavioral Health, which is comprised of 42 psychiatrists, 31 advanced practice nurses, 63 clinical psychologists, 86 master's level psychotherapists, and numerous substance abuse counselors, community support care managers, and registered nurses working closely together to provide comprehensive behavioral health care. A patient base and physician referral network have already been established in the community. Burrell Behavioral Health's facility in Springfield, Mo, is home to our youth and adult outpatient offices as well as our administrative offices. Burrell has a total of 27 primary and secondary locations throughout the State of Missouri. New nurses receive an attractive income and comprehensive benefit package. Requirements

  • Must possess a Master's degree in nursing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Previous experience in the behavioral health field is preferred.
  • Physician assistants must maintain their state license and certification.
  • Certified physician assistants must pass a recertification examination every 10 years and complete at least 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years.
  • APRNS must possess a Master's degree in nursing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
  • Must possess and maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri.
  • Must have a certificate of recognition as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of Missouri.
  • Must have credentialing as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner by a national certification body recognized by the state of Missouri.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the behavioral health field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform client assessment and diagnosis for adult clients and develop a treatment plan, implement the plan and provide follow up and evaluation.
  • Complete a psychiatric assessment; which includes obtaining a relevant health and medical history and ordering pertinent diagnostic tests.
  • Provide a psychiatric diagnosis based on the multiaxial system used by the DSM-IV-TR Axis 1 -5.
  • Implement a treatment plan, which may include provision of brief psychotherapy and/or prescription of psychotropic medications.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medication and order pertinent diagnostic tests as delegated per a current written collaborative practice or supervision agreement with the Staff Psychiatrist.
  • Provides services utilizing his/her experience and ability to meet the needs of the client and the goals of treatment.
  • Carries a caseload, the size and nature of which is to be established with supervisory staff.
  • Communicates with attending physician as necessary to identify problems and establish goals and objectives for treatment.
  • Provides and/or coordinates a comprehensive follow-up to all clients for whom he/she has been responsible.
  • Is sensitive and responsible to management needs, such as data collection, program evaluation, development of grant applications, maintenance of various contracts for services, etc.
  • Participates in all required meetings.
  • Functions in accordance with Brightli Operational Guidelines and within his/her professional code of ethics.
