About The Position

Pulmonary Associates of Richmond (PAR) has been around since 1974. That's 50 years of serving the greater Richmond community. We specialize in pulmonary medicine, sleep disorders and research. Our staff cares about our patients and delivers the utmost excellence in quality care and customer service. The Position: PAR is seeking a Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) to support PAR's Pulmonary Clinic at our Waterford and West Broad location. The position is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the supervising physician(s) in the field of pulmonary medicine. Specifically, the provision of primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting following established standards and practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years professional NP/PA experience is preferred.
  • Nurse Practitioner: Must maintain NP licensure and NP Board Certification. Current BLS or ACLS certification.
  • Physician Assistant: Must maintain PA licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patient health status including state of wellness and compliance with care plan. Determines and performs and/or prescribes appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, completing physical examinations, completing patient assessments and formulation of medical care planning to complete patient care including writing of medication prescriptions as appointed by Virginia law and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. This includes the administration of medications and injections in compliance with applicable federal and state law as well as clinic guidelines.
  • Conduct rounds on PAR patients as appropriate. This may/may not be at the direction of the supervising physician, as the job holder should be capable of assessing patient condition and his/her corresponding need to be seen.
  • Responds to emergencies including, but not limited to, the use of CPR and ACLS.
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
  • Educates patients and families as appropriate. This includes instructing the patient/family about health and illness prevention. Charged with recommending community resources that may aid in meeting patient/family needs.
  • Responsible for monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results.
  • Consults with other staff as necessary. This includes collaboration with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
