Position Highlights: The APC will work collaboratively with the supervising physician to manage various conditions related to kidney disorders such as, but not limited to, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and electrolytes abnormalities in the ambulatory setting. Utilize evidence based medical practices in the delivery of all patient care. Patient education, maintenance of inbasket, timely response to patients’ MKO questions. Maintains an attitude of inquiry towards medical practices and patient care outcomes. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required ie telephonic f/u with patients, review ordered labs after discharge from clinic What makes an Optum career different? Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in Texas.
  • Masters’ Degree in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner or Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified for Family Nurse Practitioner. or Physician Assistant: NCCPA-Certified.
  • Current prescriptive authority.
  • DEA license
  • BCLS, ACLS certified
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year nephrology experience preferred
