About The Position

The Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) Specialist at Black Hills Energy is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing gas leaks using advanced emissions measurement technology. This role involves analyzing data to locate gas leaks, coordinating repairs with operations teams, and maintaining an accurate inventory of CO gas emissions. The AMLD Specialist ensures compliance with environmental standards and enhances pipeline safety and efficiency by collaborating with various cross-functional teams. This position plays a crucial role in monitoring and reporting emissions data to help reduce the company's global emissions footprint.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of analytics, engineering, utility industry, or related experience required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead meetings with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to prepare and give presentations.
  • Experience working with metric reporting data and analyzing trends.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner with minimal direction.
  • Ability to conduct cost/benefit analysis and build business cases.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of system configurations including flow configurations and object management.
  • Understanding of mobile technology trends and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced software (PCubed) for data analysis and mapping to pinpoint gas leaks in the field.
  • Provide tier two level support to end users on business processes using utility systems applications.
  • Document findings, prepare detailed reports, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Work closely with Operations, Pipeline Safety, and Compliance teams to address and resolve detected leaks.
  • Elicit system requirements through support activities, including interviews and business process reviews.
  • Ensure all leak detection activities align with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Schedule daily work for survey, service, and operational employees and/or crews.
  • Advocate for end-user experience by partnering with multiple business units to evaluate and communicate improvements.
  • Document use-cases, work/systems process flow diagrams, and data mapping requirements.
  • Assist in the expansion of AMLD across other service territories when needed.
