About The Position

Join a rewarding opportunity as an Advanced Metering, Senior Engineer 1 with Southern California Edison's Customer Grid Edge Team, and help shape a smarter, cleaner, and more resilient energy grid of the future. In this pivotal role, you'll apply your industry expertise to design and implement evaluation processes for next-generation Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technologies before they will be deployed in the field. You'll lead hands-on testing of these emerging solutions and deliver critical technical insights that drive improvements in performance, reliability, and scalability. With this role, you will have the opportunity to work on advanced meter capabilities such as power disaggregation for energy insights, orchestration of behind-the-meter (BTM) resources like electric vehicles and battery storage, and enhanced situational awareness to strengthen network modeling and fault detection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utility enterprise and/or grid information and systems.
  • Experience with utility meter technologies and data management systems.
  • Experience developing and executing testing in lab environment.
  • Experience working with Distributed Energy Resources (Electric Vehicles, Battery Storage, Solar).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups.
  • Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies.
  • Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations.
  • Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases.
  • Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings.
  • Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems.
  • Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
