About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems - Progeny Systems is a high-tech business focusing on software and hardware system integration, cutting-edge research and development, and manufacturing. We provide premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies and commercial clients. Seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics for the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field
  • 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire
  • U.S. citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
  • Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging for shipboard applications
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects
  • Strong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze components and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Create and maintain mechanical solid models and drawings
  • Create and manage bills of material (BOM) within data management system
  • Develop fixtures and equipment to support testing and production efforts
  • Generate design and interface documentation
  • Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
  • Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis
