Welding is one of the key fabrication processes in the production of a Magnetic Resonance System. This role will provide leadership, planning and technical support for the introduction of welding related processes for New Product development and continuous improvement of existing production lines. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness through innovative tooling, fixturing, and process design. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and quality to drive excellence in manufacturing execution.

  • Lead process development and introduction for new products, ensuring readiness of the supply chain and manufacturing systems.
  • Design and validate tooling, fixturing, and equipment for complex mechanical systems, particularly in MRI or similar high-tech environments.
  • Drive product quality improvement by identifying welding issues, developing advanced welding cost effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, control plans, and validation protocols. Prepare and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Ensure early focus on welding and fabrication items in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs. Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, technology plays within QMS Design Transfer execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues related to methods, tooling, equipment, and product design.
  • Lead prototype builds and ensure alignment with design intent and production requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards, including QMS, GMP, and validation requirements.
  • Collaborate globally to share best practices and standardize manufacturing solutions across sites.
  • Support AME initiatives with wide business impact and ensure to share best practices across the different plants and Global Supply Chain.
  • Serve as the MR representative to TUV and any other regulatory body on welding/Site Weld Supervisor.
  • Oversee training and qualification of Welding and Welding Operators in accordance with TUV, ISO, ASME, AWS and other codes and standards.
  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering OR an Associates Degree and a minimum of 3 years experience in a related field, OR High School diploma with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of robotic welding, including researching and specifying equipment and strong knowledge of robotic programming. Knowledge of automated aluminum MIG welding, automated MIG carbon and stainless steel welding.
  • Experience in design of welding Jigs and Fixtures.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, or tooling design.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project planning skills.
  • Knowledge of metals, plastics, and composite materials.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and DFx principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in MRI or other medical device manufacturing environments.
  • Six Sigma certified.
  • Exposure to GEHC QMS procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems and hardware testing.
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks, Windchill) and GD&T.
  • Experience in global team collaboration and project leadership.
