Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen preparation and cooking experience
  • Food Safety Certification preferred
  • Stand for long periods; walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, crouch, stretch, twist, and reach
  • Push, pull, or lift up to 70 lbs
  • Perform continuous repetitive motions
  • Work in hot, humid, and noisy kitchen environments

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented kitchen culture
  • Display leadership and accountability among fellow cooks
  • Work any station in the kitchen and produce food orders efficiently and accurately
  • Prepare menu items according to standard recipes and chef specifications
  • Correct recipes and plating if standards are not met
  • Work at a fast pace under pressure in hot, steamy environments
  • Multitask effectively while maintaining quality and consistency
  • Take inventory of station needs and requisition items accordingly
  • Notify the Executive Sous Chef of anticipated shortages
  • Maintain clean, sanitary work areas and properly cared-for equipment
  • Set up, maintain, break down, and close kitchen stations using checklists
  • Follow proper heating, cooling, labeling, dating, and FIFO procedures
  • Comply with all state and local health, food safety, and sanitation regulations
  • Know and follow emergency procedures and equipment safety protocols
  • Make recommendations for kitchen maintenance and equipment upkeep
  • Attend kitchen meetings and contribute ideas for improvement
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned by kitchen leadership
