About The Position

The Honeywell LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) Organization is devoted to delivering innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers in the energy industry. We are uniquely positioned to utilize our world-class liquefaction technology to develop cutting-edge end-to-end solutions for the LNG industry, providing full plant engineered offerings to our customers. To support this growing demand, we are seeking a talented Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer to contribute to the development of our next-generation offerings. As an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer at Honeywell you will use your knowledge of Instrumentation systems, electrical engineering and design, and chemical processing to help Honeywell deliver equipment and plant designs to the global LNG market. You will work under Honeywell LNG Engineering management in a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for development of plant system designs and control architecture based on our proprietary liquefaction technology. You will contribute to the development of Honeywell LNG’s end-to-end solutions by designing, testing, and validating instrumentation systems. You will support execution projects through early engineering development to final project execution. This involves supporting the development of the Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), utilizing process specifications to develop purchase requisition packages for all control system components, and troubleshooting the control systems provided with our end-to-end solutions. You will take the lead on specifying and designing all aspects of the instrumentation systems installed in our proprietary equipment modules, coldboxes, and full liquefaction plants. Typical instrumentation scope includes gas processing and cryogenic equipment, such as control valves, flowmeters, safety relief valves, bulk instrumentation, wiring and cable tray systems, junction boxes, control panels, and utility power supply systems

Requirements

  • YOU MUST HAVE A minimum of 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Electrical Engineer, ideally within the energy or oil and gas industry ; significant applicable experience working with EPC’s (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction contractors) or large engineering firms will also be considered.
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing instrument wiring and schematic diagrams.
  • Experience in developing and reviewing detailed engineering specifications and drawings, including Instrument Index, Instrument Location Plans, Cable Schedules, Installation Details (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic), and Cable Tray/Conduit Routing Plans.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and preparing P&IDs.
  • Proficiency in utilization of digital tools (CAD software, AI tools, office applications) and good communication practices.
  • Experience in preparing data sheets and generating purchase requisitions for a variety of instrumentation equipment.
  • US PERSONS REQUIREMENT Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Chemical Engineering; but significant applicable experience may also be considered in lue of a bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to act as a liaison with external suppliers and clients, providing technical support and communication.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), European standards, hazardous area classification and protections, and other international requirements for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISA standards and its equivalent in other countries/regions.
  • Understanding of the testing, certification, and marking requirements for instrumentation equipment in electrically classified areas.
  • Experience with electrical and control design .
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Prior knowledge or experience in Controls and/or Systems Engineering

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of the instrumentation and electrical scope of LNG project bids, pre-engineered (productization) designs, and awarded sale of equipment projects
  • Lead I&E equipment and component procurement by developing and evaluating instrument data sheets, managing technical requisitions, participating in supplier qualification and performance management, and conducting technical bid evaluations for I&E equipment.
  • Develop and review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to ensure accuracy and compliance with project, customer, and regulatory specifications.
  • Act as I&E subject matter expert during equipment fabrication, plant construction, and system commissioning by troubleshooting issues and adapting designs to meet technical, budgetary, and schedule requirements.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and documents, including hook-up diagrams, instrument plans, Bills of Materials (BOM), and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at vendor facilities and conduct inspections at project sites to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare or revise reports and documentation as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with Process Engineering, Process Systems (P&ID development), and Controls Engineering disciplines to ensure I&E scope satisfies all process, safety, and operation requirements.
  • Develop, modify, and adhere to internal engineering ,standards, practices, and specifications, ensuring compliance with customer and industrial standards and requirements.
  • Conduct specification reviews, identifying any exceptions or areas requiring clarification and ensuring Honeywell LNG practices remain state of the art.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project groups to ensure cohesive project execution, exchanging essential task-level information between team members and departments.
  • Provide support to engineering disciplines outside of, but related to, I&E such as process controls engineering, safety engineering, and mechanical systems engineering.
  • Identify and communicate incidents of non-compliance and propose actionable recommendations to resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities for technical improvements within processes and designs
