About the position

The Advanced Imaging Paramedic provides critical support in advanced imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort. This role involves preparing patients for imaging studies, administering medications, monitoring patient vitals, and assisting radiologists and technologists during procedures. The Advanced Imaging Paramedic typically reports to the Imaging Services Director and works closely with radiologists, MRI/CT technologists, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process and addressing concerns.
  • Administer medications and contrast agents as required.
  • Monitor patient vitals before, during, and after procedures.
  • Assist radiologists and technologists during imaging procedures.
  • Ensure proper positioning of patients and operation of imaging equipment.
  • Respond to any patient emergencies or adverse reactions during procedures.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedure instructions to patients.
  • Educate patients on the importance of following imaging protocols.
  • Offer reassurance and support to patients throughout their visit.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating imaging appointments.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on imaging equipment.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment in the imaging suite.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of relevant experience as a paramedic in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Paramedic (NREMT-P) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in advanced imaging or a similar role.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
