GDMS has an immediate opening for a Optics Technician to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to support the Trident LE program, one of our nation’s fundamental defense systems. The selected candidate will work in the Optics Engineering team to perform technical assembly and test activities that impact the manufacturing of the Camera Detector Assembly (CDA) and Stable Member Optics Assembly (SMOA). The Optics Technician will enhance their skill set by working among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. Requirements

  • An Associate’s degree in related discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Solid knowledge and proficiency in the use of fabrication tools
  • Ability to fabricate complex hardware
  • Solid knowledge of generally accepted technical theory

Responsibilities

  • The Optics Technician performs technical activities which include Camera Detector Assembly/Stable Member Optical Assemblies (CDA/SMOA) assembly, system-level test, detail design and manufacturing of advanced Optical/Electronics systems.
  • Ability to work unsupervised while performing a high level of critical assembly and test functions.
  • Test Optical components using complex optical set ups and test stations.
  • Understand the relation between test results and Camera Detector Assembly/Stable member telescope functions.
  • Perform solder operations specified as in Trident requirements.
  • Perform wire to wire resistance welding.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks to meet production schedules.
  • Deliver repeatable high quality systems to meet Customer’s needs.
  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices behind the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures.
  • Follow industry and department trends and developments to ensure GDMS services are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices.
