About The Position

Responds to EMS calls and performs a variety of functions related to the care and treatment of patients suffering from urgent and emergent disease and/or injury states in accordance with appropriate rules, regulations, and protocols according to PA DOH EMS Act and scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of experience in a busy 911 system.
  • Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support upon hire.
  • Certified EMS Vehicle Operator upon hire.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence.
  • Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC).
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, 800 - Hazardous Materials Awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to EMS calls whether emergency or routine transport.
  • Observes safety policies and operates an emergency vehicle with due regard for others.
  • Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.
  • Prepares, hangs, monitors, and discontinues I.V. fluids.
  • Responds to emergency non-emergency calls as an Advanced Life Support Provider when appropriate, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) EMS protocols.
