About The Position

Oversees the pharmaceutical aspects of clinical drug trials at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, including investigator-initiated trials, pharmaceutical industry sponsored trials, and National Cancer Institute sponsored trials. Facilitates collaboration between Pharmacy Services, principal investigators, clinical trial coordinators, research assistants, and trial sponsors. Supports the development of policies, standard operating procedures, clinical trial protocols, and other related materials necessary for clinical trial implementation. Acts as a liaison for Pharmacy Services with principle investigators or trial coordinators to establish pharmacy's role and ensure trials are implemented in a safe and compliant manner. Attends and contributes to interdisciplinary meetings relating to clinical drug trials, including the Intermountain Healthcare Investigational Review Board, Clinical Trials Executive Committee, Scientific Review Committee, Institutional Biosafety Committee, and Study Initiation Visits. Maintains appropriate documentation of clinical drug trial activities, including the study summary, protocol, dispensing procedures, dispensing checklist, fee schedule, billing procedures, and any other relevant materials. Manages the medication inventory for clinical trials, including drug receipt, distribution, billing, and waste. Routinely monitors pharmacy activities to ensure adherence to study protocols and dispensing procedures. Collects and monitors reports related to clinical drug trials (e.g., incident reports, adverse drug reaction reports). Supports staff education and training related to clinical drug trials by: Orientating staff to pharmacy's role with respect to clinical drug trials. Helping train pharmacy staff who participate in any aspect of a specific clinical investigational drug trial. Providing drug information to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals, as it relates to a clinical drug trial. Participates development of software programs designed to facilitate management of clinical trials. Acts as a preceptor for pharmacy learners.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • License to practice pharmacy in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Hospital pharmacy experience

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of postgraduate specialty training in investigational drugs or research
  • Experience interpreting and using data.
  • Experience teaching, guiding, and mentoring other professionals and learners.
  • Phase 1 clinical trial investigational drug experience.
