About The Position

Responsible for speaking and acquiring the highest possible proficiency level of the Cherokee language with distinguished proficiency level and/or superior proficiency level speakers. Is expected to utilize skills in a Cherokee language immersion and intellectual literacy setting. Reports to and under the direction of the Manager of the Master-Apprentice Language Program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Certified as a First Language Speaker by the Department of Cherokee Language.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
  • The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
  • Must be a first language Cherokee Speaker.
  • Depending on work location, may need to meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
