About The Position

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The Advanced Cardiac Care Unit (ACCU) is a 48-bed, fast-paced cardiac care unit that offers an exciting and challenging place for skilled nurses and a great environment in which to grow and learn. The Student Nurse Tech provides multi-skilled, direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse, requiring completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health).

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in ADN/BSN School of Nursing and have completed one (1) semester of a fundamental medical/surgical clinical
  • Enrolled-accredited RN program
  • No Experience
  • Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health)

Nice To Haves

  • Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Student Nurse Tech experience
  • Enrolled-accredited BSN program

Responsibilities

  • Assists nurse with patient and family education.
  • Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
  • Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
  • Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
  • Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
  • Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
