Position Summary: The Advance Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for conducting rounds on patients, performing assessments, coordinating and evaluating the plan of care, and implementing discharge plans at the direction and supervision of the Primary Physician within the scope of his/her practice permitted under South Dakota law. The APP also administers medications/treatments and assists with procedures as ordered by the physicians. The APP works collaboratively with the healthcare team to assure the safe and accurate delivery of care. While the PA is subject to practice under the protocols established and approved by the medical staff as required under South Dakota law, in all other respects the APP is subject to the Hospital’s authority. Assumes, under the direction of the Laboratory, responsibility for patient specimen testing, quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Certified Physician Assistant - Graduate from a master's-level PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - Master's degree required. Graduate of an accredited CNP program required.
  • Certified Physician Assistant - Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - Minimum of 1 year CNP experience or minimum of 2 years of RN experience in hospital inpatient, cardiology, ICU or critical care required.
  • Certified Physician Assistant - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) upon hire.
  • Federal Drug Enforcement Admin - US Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Admin State and federal based on state practice upon hire.
  • Certified Physician Assistant - Licensing Board Must be licensed and qualified to practice in the state based on job assignment upon hire.
  • Certified Nurse Practitioner - current licensure/ certification as a CNP by the South Dakota Board of Nursing required.
  • Current BLS and ACLS required

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Physician Assistant - Minimum of 2 years of experience in hospital inpatient, cardiology, ICU or critical care preferred.
  • CCRN preferred.
