Position Summary Location: Wiregrass Ranch Hosptial 3000 Wiregrass Ranch Blvd, Wesley Chapel, FL 33543 Department: ICU The Nurse Practitioner works in collaboration with a physician, and according to the collaborative practice protocol provides inpatient management, consultations, and co-management of medical and surgical patients Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health Wiregrass Ranch Hospital is conveniently located in the master-planned community of Wiregrass Ranch in Wesley Chapel, Florida. The facility is currently under construction with a completion date set for Spring 2026 and will serve the increasing healthcare needs of the growing Pasco County and Florida Gulf Coast regions. The hospital will open with 102 beds, with a 300-bed capacity at ultimate build out. Designed with a focus on patient comfort and the latest in innovative technology, the hospital will deliver advanced emergency, diagnostic and inpatient care with clinical experts in a variety of specialties. Requirements

  • One (1) year of ICU experience as an Advanced Practice Provider or several years of ICU experience as an ICU Charge nurse
  • ARNP license in the state of Florida.
  • National advanced certification from an approved nursing specialty board.
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare certification.
  • MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing required.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and recognizes deviations from the normal. Then develops a diagnosis and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implements the treatment plan.
  • Performs complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as credentialed, in diagnosing medical and surgical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
  • Implements appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care in accordance with evidence based medicine.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care and outcomes.
  • Dictates and documents in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Performs H & P examinations and documents appropriately in the medical record. (Must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising medical staff member within 24 hours and may not be substituted for physician H & P).
  • Performs patient education and maintains provision of preventive health services.
  • Conducts or participates in multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Participates in the department weekend/ holiday rounding as required.
  • Participates in quality initiatives to ensure consistent attainment of key quality indicators.
  • Supports IRB approved clinical research/trials through a variety of activities including but not limited to ordering diagnostic tests, prescreening patients, recording laboratory and diagnostic results, administering therapeutic interventions per trial protocols and documenting outcomes per hospital and trial protocols.
  • Uses clinical judgment and evidenced based medicine to order and schedule appropriate lab and radiology studies
  • Works with supervising physician to determine and place appropriate specialty consultations
  • Removes catheters, drains, sutures and staples
  • Assess patient for changes in status and capable of instituting appropriate interventions in sub-acute, acute and emergent situations
  • Notifies attending physician about unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation
  • Prescribes medications using evidence based medicine, clinical judgment and plan of care as discussed in rounds with attending physician
  • Writes and / or dictates concise thorough patient progress notes, consult notes, history and physical notes and clinical resumes.
