About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time position that involves providing competent direct patient care based on established standards. The RN will work under the direction of leadership and contribute to unit activities while supporting the enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level. This role includes responsibilities such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member. The RN will provide effective and efficient direct care to patients with varied and complex needs throughout the medical center. The position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work well both independently and within a team, and a patient-centered critical thinking approach. The RN will be responsible for inserting and monitoring PICC, Midlines, and PIV placements, acting as a resource for medical center staff regarding vascular access line therapy, and performing quality assurance and chart audits to ensure quality health outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Provide competent direct patient care based on established standards.
• Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system.
• Assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member.
• Insert and monitor PICC, Midlines, and PIV placements with and without ultrasound guidance.
• Act as a resource to medical center staff regarding vascular access line therapy and IV assessment.
• Perform quality assurance, chart audits, and monitoring to ensure quality health outcomes.
• Participate in daily team check-ins and respond to patient consults.
• Educate patients, families, and staff nurses regarding line preservation and CLABSI prevention.
