About The Position

Responsible for the ongoing assessment, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of regulatory standards, processes, services and systems directed toward the provision of coordinated quality trauma care from a multi-disciplinary perspective throughout the continuum of care. Prisma Health Richland Hospital A regional academic medical center and hospital with more than 125 years of service to Columbia, Prisma Health Richland Hospital provides a wide range of primary and specialty healthcare services. Our Trauma Center is the only Level I Adult and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center in the Midlands. Richland Hospital is a Magnet-designated hospital. Requirements

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Experience - Three (3) years of related nursing experience. Emergency room or trauma nursing experience preferred.
  • Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.

Nice To Haves

  • Trauma Nursing Core Certification and/or Emergency or Critical Care Nursing certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical expertise and serve as liaison to all sub-specialties and hospital departments for the Trauma Program.
  • Facilitates and coordinates meetings and committees to address the operational and performance improvement activities of the Trauma Program.
  • Implements and develops policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines to guide the administrative and clinical functions of the Trauma Program and Service.
  • Ensures all Trauma Center accreditation standards are met as required by designating authority, ACS or Dept. of Public Health, within the context of the American College of Surgeons Optimal Care Guidelines.
  • Manages the personnel, operations and financial aspects of the Trauma Program.
  • Directs public relations and public education of the Trauma Center for media, legislature, visitors and patients.
  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in the outreach and professional education activities of the Trauma Center with referring hospitals, pre-hospital providers, nurses and physicians.
  • Directs the activities of the Trauma Registry to include data collection, analysis of data, distribution and submission of data to State and National Databases.
  • Oversees the Trauma Performance Improvement Program that identifies patient care and systems issues and provides follow-up and loop closure.
  • Directs the injury prevention activities of the Trauma Center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
