About The Position

The Adult Sports Official position is an integral part of the City of Greeley’s Recreation Division and is responsible for the on-site officiating and management of recreation services, programs, and events. The Adult Sports Official will report to the Recreation Coordinator and/or the Recreation Leader. The Adult Sports Official is expected to exercise sound judgment and effectively serve all areas of the program. This is a continuous posting and may close at any time.

Requirements

  • One (1) + years of customer service experience.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Knowledgeable about the rules of the sports that are being offered.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others.
  • Oral, written, and listening communication skills, including the ability to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details accurately and clearly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and reliable professional judgment, as well as collaboratively with a team to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to self-start and take initiative in completing daily tasks and special projects.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ages.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and best practices, including customer needs assessments, meeting quality service standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of incident response and handling methodologies.
  • Customer service skills, including the ability to actively listen, address customer needs, defuse tense situations, and maintain an open, flexible, and friendly demeanor.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two (1-2) years of officiating experience.

Responsibilities

  • Officiates Adult Sports Contests
  • Sports vary from Inline Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Flag Football, etc.
  • Prepares gym/field for play by setting up any necessary equipment and inspect the site to ensure participant safety.
  • Works effectively and productively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Explains and enforces facility and/or program rules, policies, and procedures while positively representing the City.
  • Provides first-rate customer support to members, guests, participants, and the public, resolving immediate concerns as best as possible with the established guidelines and framework of the facility and/or program.
  • Acts quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings.
