Requirements

  • Experience & Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) plus 2+ years in landscaping, groundskeeping, or athletic field maintenance. Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Softball Savvy: Familiarity with adult softball league operations and rules is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and time-management skills; comfortable working independently.
  • Licenses & Certifications: CPR, AED, First Aid, Umpire & BASSET certifications (preferred, or willingness to obtain). Valid driver's license.
  • Team Player: Cooperative mindset, strong customer service focus, and dedication to the Crystal Lake Park District’s mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Softball Savvy: Familiarity with adult softball league operations and rules is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Field Preparation: Drag, stripe, and level fields; maintain bleachers, dugouts, and equipment.
  • Game Supervision: Assist umpires with roster checks, rules, and bat inspections; oversee scorecards and general gameplay.
  • Safety & Cleanliness: Conduct regular safety checks, keep facilities clean, and maintain field materials inventory.
  • Leadership: Train and supervise part-time staff and uphold Park District standards, ensuring a fun, safe environment.
  • Customer Service: Interact with teams, address questions/concerns, and promote a positive, community-centric experience.
