About The Position

The pay for this position starts at $20.50/hour, with additional compensation added for higher education and/or years of relevant experience up to $23.87/hour. This position is located in Sterling, MA. The schedule for this positoin is: Sunday - Wednesday; 11pm - 9am $250 Bonus if MAP Certified. Devereux – Massachusetts is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to helping children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Through our residential and placement services in the community, we help individuals learn the skills needed for independent living and making meaningful life choices. We provide supportive settings in comfortable home environments and ensure that individuals have access to services that are appropriate to their developmental level, and cognitive, emotional, and social abilities. We are looking for caring and compassionate people who want to work in a 4-bed IDD/ASD adult male group home setting. As a Direct Support Professional, you are a teacher - coaching and demonstrating skills to increase individual’s independence, relationship builder - developing positive connections with individuals, their friends and families and their DDS service coordinators, and an environmental manager - monitoring the safety and security of the home and community. Responsibilities may include coaching and assisting in hygiene routines, chore completion, meal preparation, administration of medications, completion of required paperwork, planning and facilitating recreational activities, assisting with transportation and supporting individuals in working and achieving their goals. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to attend a 2-week paid orientation, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 4PM, in Rutland, MA.
  • Must be MAPS certified, or able to obtain certification within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders preferred.
