About The Position

Using a Housing First approach, Avalon Services staff provide outreach, intensive case management and housing support services to Avalon tenants and clients. The individuals we serve face many challenges, including mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or chronic medical conditions in addition to chronic homelessness. The Adult Residential Services Team Leader will oversee the supportive housing services provided at two 24-7 residential sites, one 6-unit property that is owned by Avalon and another 106 unit property that is owned and operated by the Ann Arbor Housing Commission. The Adult Residential Team Lead supervises an interdisciplinary team that includes the Miller Manor and Ashley Support Coordinators, a Peer Support Specialist, a Community Builder and a Home Health Aide. The team works alongside a team of Residential Support Specialists (RSS) who provide 24/7 front line support including front door and guest monitoring, resource navigation and crisis intervention as needed. RSS staff are supervised by the RSS Program Manager. The Adult Residential Services Team Leader will collaborate closely with Avalon's RSS Program Manager to ensure continuity and support of 24-7 services. Requirements

  • Experience managing a team of staff
  • Bachelor's required; MSW or relevant Master's degree in a social or behavioral science or relevant field preferred
  • Two years' experience working with people who are homeless, people with mental illness, chronic health issues, and/or addiction disorders, or similar populations
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by programs and staffing needs including occasional evenings and weekends
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing programs at multiple physical sites
  • Oversee collaboration of contractual partnership with Community Mental Health (CMH)
  • Clinical supervision and support to direct reports; provide leadership for ongoing operations of the team
  • Provide ongoing staff training and oversight to ensure quality of service for our clients
  • Uphold Council of Accreditation (COA) service standards
  • Supervise staff/intern on the following key services:
  • Ongoing, active outreach to tenants/clients
  • Comprehensive tenant assessments and action plans to achieve goals
  • Ongoing case management for clients, including maintenance of clinical records and progress notes
  • Collaboration with Property Management to coordinate eviction prevention efforts
  • Oversee crisis intervention as needed
  • Build community and peer support among tenants including participation in community programming activities
  • Attend staff meetings, retreats, and professional training sessions
  • Participate in on-call rotation as necessary
