About The Position

The Wyoming Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated Adult Probation and Parole Officer to join the Field Services Division in Gillette, WY. This position plays a crucial role in contributing to public safety by accurately assessing offender risks and needs, and addressing these areas through effective case planning, meaningful interventions, and corrective actions when necessary. The Field Services Division is responsible for the community supervision and case management of probationers and parolees, and we pride ourselves on being a progressive department that offers job variety and challenges our staff to help rehabilitate offenders into law-abiding citizens. As an Adult Probation and Parole Officer, you will utilize and analyze validated risk and needs assessments to determine appropriate supervision levels, aiding in the development of individual case planning goals. You will collaborate with government and private entities to enhance case management and support client behavior for long-term change. Your role will involve identifying external and internal motivators of change through motivational interviewing and other techniques, as well as understanding the intervention, incentives, and sanctions within the criminal justice system. You will be responsible for facilitating cognitive intervention groups and maintaining supervision standards to ensure public safety while helping offenders reintegrate into the community. This includes conducting visits with clients in various settings to verify compliance and support positive behavior, maintaining documentation of all case management efforts, and writing reports for the Parole Board, Courts, or other stakeholders. The position requires a strong commitment to creating a positive and collaborative environment for clients, enabling them to gain the confidence to change their behavior in the long term.
