About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a dedicated individual for a full-time position in the Medical Surgical service. This role involves providing competent direct patient care under the direction of leadership, contributing to unit activities, and enhancing the care delivery system at the unit level. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a willingness to organize and facilitate patient throughput. The individual will work collaboratively to coordinate patient discharges and assist with the admission process when appropriate. The role primarily involves day and evening hours with some flexibility for occasional weekend coverage.

Requirements

• 3 years of acute care experience required.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent direct patient care based on established standards.
• Contribute to unit activities and support enhancement of the care delivery system.
• Support peers in the delivery of patient care services.
• Assume expanded roles such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member.
• Organize and facilitate patient throughput.
• Coordinate care for patients being discharged.
• Assist with the discharge process in the TCU alongside RN/LPN.
• Round on units to assist with discharges.
• Transport patients from units to the TCU or discharge area.
• Assist units with the admission process of patients when appropriate.
