About The Position

NIA is seeking an engaging ESL Instructor to teach English as a Second Language to adult learners. The instructor will be responsible for creating lesson plans and facilitating small group instruction in a supportive, inclusive learning environment that helps community members build practical English language skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
• Experience teaching English as a Second Language; experience with adult learners preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to working in a community-based, nonprofit setting
• Ability to work independently
• Weekdays only during afterschool / evening hours. Minimum requirement is 4 hours per week, maximum is 15 hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver ESL lesson plans tailored to the needs of adult learners
• Facilitate small group instruction using interactive and culturally responsive teaching practices
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and mutual respect
• Support learners in building practical English skills for everyday life, school involvement, and community engagement
• Track attendance and monitor learner progress, adjusting instruction as needed
• Collaborate with program staff to support overall program goals
