About The Position

South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Corporate and Continuing Education seeks highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Adult Learning Instructor for non-credit courses. Our instructors place student success at the center of all decision-making, engage with students, fellow instructors, staff and administrators to create a community of learners, seek opportunities for teaching and learning excellence, embrace change, risk-taking and innovation, respect the richness of diverse cultural values, beliefs and practices of others, and contribute to the technical and general education of students who will apply learning to the workplace. The course rate range for this position is $225.00- $400.00/per course, driven by enrollment into the specific class.

Requirements

  • Current knowledge of research based Adult Learning Theories.
  • Experience and ability to teach others how to deliver and develop instruction for in-person, online, and on-demand courses.
  • Evidence of teaching experience or potential.
  • Commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of teaching or training in a corporate/professional setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop course activities and materials to meet the learning objectives of the Adult Learning Theory course.
  • Understand the basics of how adults learn.
  • Identify and create clear objectives.
  • Create clear learning plans.
  • Utilize formal and informal assessments for practice versus mastery.
  • Develop formative and summative assessments.
  • Design and implement strategies for engagement.
  • Create materials/visual aids that maximize understanding and engagement for both in-person and online training.
  • Understand voice and style for e-learning modules.
  • Conceptualize online e-learning platforms.
  • Apply multiple teaching and learning strategies that promote the affective, cognitive and kinesthetic domains of learning.
  • Be available to teach classes on a variety of days and times.
