About The Position

The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a nurse faculty to support the Adult-Gerontology, Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) in the DNP nursing program. This full-time (12-month appointment), faculty position reports to the Chair, Department of Acute, Chronic, and Continuing Care. Appointment, rank and salary are commensurate with experience. KUMC School of Nursing recognizes the need for AGACNP faculty to remain active in clinical practice. The SON faculty practice plan provides a mechanism for faculty to incorporate a dedicated clinical practice as a formal component of their faculty role and workplan. The SON faculty practice office will provide to applicants, who do not already have an established practice, the opportunity to explore practice placements at the University of Kansas Health System, a Magnet-designated health system with nine sites in the Kansas City metro area.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in nursing (DNP or PhD)
  • Possess a registered nurse (RN) license and advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (or be eligible for RN and APRN licenses in Kansas).
  • Possess and maintain a current certification as an AGACNP
  • One year of clinical experience as an AGACNP

Responsibilities

  • Teach nursing students in a variety of courses and settings (didactic courses that are online, in-person, or hybrid, clinical settings, simulation, and clinical laboratory settings) primarily in the DNP program.
  • Identify, establish, and assign clinical placements.
  • Maintain an active clinical practice.
  • Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in service-related activities (serving on committees/task forces, mentoring students, etc.) to support the mission of the school.
  • Collaborate with other KU nursing faculty and external stakeholders such as health system partners.
  • Develop and implement special projects as necessary.
