Adult Education Substitute Instructor Role: The role of Substitute Instructor would need to be avaialbe to cover misc. classes as need. This position would be able to teach for any of the following classes (GED, ESL, Success Strategies for Career Ready programs-- online & in-person) across the three counties we serve (Grayson, Cooke, & Fannin). The pay rate for this position is $23.10 per hour. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 70% Basic skill instruction in reading, math, writing, social studies, science and English language, including preparation for the GED exam. 10% Prepares and submits lesson plans. 5% Maintains student records and submits attendance sheets and enrollment forms. 5% Evaluates student progress and attendance to adjust programming to meet state and federal guidelines. 5% Attends required staff meetings and professional development training. 5% Performs other job related duties as assigned. Promotes the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom. Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education: A Bachelor's degree. Education coursework preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Other Skills: Be proficient in the use of computers (internet, emailing, etc.) and office equipment (copier, scanner, printer, etc.). Physical Requirements: Work includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, and travel to various classroom sites as needed. Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical classroom or office.
