Instructor(s) for the 250-350-hour Medical Assistant Training. Reporting to the Director of Grants and Workforce Development, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help adult students learn career area-related theory and hands-on practical skills to lead students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to gain employment in the career area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The purpose will be to prepare adult trainees for entry-level positions as Medical Assistants. Training will prepare students for the NHA CCMA exam, and the course will include OSHA online training and CPR / BLS training. Teachers will coordinate student participation in clinicals and will advise workforce staff on eligibility criteria to take the class. Up to 30 hours of job-seeking skills training will be included and will be taught by other staff. Two teachers may co-teach the class. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : A high school diploma is required; a college degree and prior teaching experience, preferably in a vocational high school setting, or any combination of education and work experience. Five years of recent (within the last seven years) of full-time employment experience directly related to the vocational teaching area is preferred.
