About The Position
The Adult Education - GED Instructor position at Angelina College is a part-time role focused on providing educational instruction to adult learners in various counties including Angelina, Houston, Nacogdoches, Newton, Polk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, and Tyler. The instructor will report directly to the Director of Adult Education and Literacy and will be responsible for a range of duties aimed at supporting students in their educational journey. This includes administering and evaluating student baseline and progress assessments, assisting students in setting attainable goals, and coordinating instruction with both student and program goals. The instructor will also be tasked with maintaining accurate records of student progress, including Individual Training, Education, and Career Plans (ITEC), attendance records, and individual student folders, while ensuring confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations. In addition to instructional responsibilities, the instructor will play a key role in recruiting and retaining students in the adult education program, delivering GED instruction using approved Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Content Standards, and completing required professional development training each year. The position requires a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, demonstrating sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of students, and collaborating effectively with colleagues across the organization. The work environment is characterized by moderate noise levels, and while the primary duties are performed in a classroom setting, some travel may be required to fulfill job responsibilities.
