About The Position

The Adult Day Program Staff provides direct support, supervision, and engagement to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in the day program. This role promotes independence, skill development, community integration, and personal growth in a safe and respectful environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and function well in a high-paced (at times stressful) environment.
  • Must possess patience, empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to person-centered support.
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance, Class E required (use of personal vehicle required at times).
  • Acceptable background checks.
  • Able to stand, walk, and sit four (4) hours at a time.
  • Repetitive bending and reaching up to two (2) hours a day.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Ability to lift or assist individuals as needed and engage in active programming.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support and supervision to participants during program hours.
  • Provide transportation support or accompany participants.
  • Facilitate and assist with individual and group activities focused on skill-building, recreation, community inclusion, and social development.
  • Implement individual service plans (ISPs) and document progress, participation, and incidents according to agency and state guidelines.
  • Assist in coordinating daily schedules for people supported.
  • Assist with small group daily activities that are meaningful, age appropriate and support each client’s program plan.
  • Support communication and social interaction; facilitate participation in programs, activities, and group settings.
  • Support participants with personal care needs as required (e.g., hygiene, mobility, eating).
  • Assist people supported to establish self-determination, advocacy and security.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, and person-centered environment.
  • Monitor health and safety; report changes in participants’ condition to supervisor and coordinate with nursing or medical staff as needed.
  • Administer all medications and medical treatments in a timely and accurate manner, and document accordingly.
  • Ensure participant safety and well-being at all times, including during transportation and community outings.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, families, and supervisors regarding participant needs and program updates.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming program space.
