About The Position

The Career Advisor will counsel and assist customers regarding job search strategies, personal career advisement, and training issues, while identifying and addressing barriers to employment. The role involves advising, monitoring, and tracking customer participation to maximize program functions and opportunities. The advisor will manage day-to-day relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and documenting findings with case notes. The position requires maintaining knowledge of various occupations and career paths, providing motivational support, identifying training needs, and facilitating job readiness workshops. The advisor will also document customer success stories, analyze resumes, maintain accurate records, and assist in training other team members. The role is under the direction of program leadership and involves producing documents, maintaining filing systems, and performing other relevant duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Art/Bachelor of Science in psychology, marketing, business, human resources or related fields.
  • Two plus years of relevant work experience in career counseling or workforce development.
  • Ability to support a high volume of customers and ensure prompt responses.
  • Experience in presenting workshops and working with individuals with barriers to employment.
  • Knowledge of job search strategies and resources.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Familiarity with local communities and resources.
